Hi! I'm Jacqueline. I'm a freelancer in the fashion industry who works in conscious denim.
Focusing my passions and talents towards bettering the fashion industry is where I thrive and what I care most about.

Outside the industry:
Lots of time is spent with my family :) I love working out and trying new things; still a newbie at skiing but am loving it so far!
I'm obsessed with personal & professional development podcasts like Brene` Brown, Fashion Designer's Get Paid, The Minimalists, Conscious Chatter & What Fresh Hell.
Utah will always be home but as of Aug 2024, we are living in North Carolina.

Although I believe the fashion industry brings creativity and art to life, I see the negative effects it has had and continues to have on the Earth and communities. Working with companies who conduct business in a more responsible way, (than the industry standard) along with those who are at, or continuously striving for Certified B Corporation status is my top priority. These companies are fully transparent in environmental practices, human rights, employee well-being, material usage, and financial interests.

I believe it is our responsibility to implement changes that are vastly different from how this industry has operated historically. We must pave new paths with true intentions of healing our environment and communities.
Check out my to read my current thoughts on the matter.

With every project, I focus on the brand's vision, product life cycle, environmental impact, and production integrity. I work with brands that are genuinely doing their part in
making the apparel industry better as well as brands who have
decided to start implementing these practices.

Designing smarter to me means implementing
more circular processes over the traditional ones. Approaches like:

omitting unrecyclable materials
sourcing biodegradable fabrics
diverting materials from landfills
carbon offsetting or insetting
sourcing certified fabrics
laser finishing vs manual finishing
and educating your customer.

I graduated from F.I.D.M., - The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, in Product Development. This comprehensive program has been the catalyst in learning industry-specific skills such as technical flat sketching, line development, brand imaging,
sourcing strategies, content creation, garment construction,
garment fit analysis and more.

Although F.I.D.M gave me the foundation for traditional industry knowledge,
I credit my own explorations for what I know now and continue learning daily
regarding circularity, innovation, and responsible business practices.
Books, documentaries, articles, digital media platforms, and people sharing their experiences are to thank for shining a light on this very dark side of the industry.

I have so much hope for the future and believe over time, we can
collectively change people's lives for the better and heal our environment!
